To Pass the Time

Dr. Khan came at last to assess Wafa and ordered the pitocin to be administered. That seems to be helping with the contractions. It took a little over a half hour for it to kick in, but alhamdulillah, it's doing the job now. The last few hours, we passed the time by playing Uno with the moms. :-) Baba called to leave me a voicemail with a number of Qur'an verses and dua to help with the process. The verses about Maryam (3alayha assalaam) have a whole new meaning when your wife is contracting in front of you.

The dua and ayaat we said are:
- يا خالق النفس من النفس يا مخلص النفس من النفس يا مخرج النفس من النفس خلصني
- لااله الا الله الحليم الكريم سبحان الله رب العرش العظيم والحمد لله رب العالمين
- سورة الفاتحة سبع مرات
- وآية الكرسي
- (3x) سورة الإخلاص
- (3x) سورة الفلق
- (3x) سورة الناس
- سورة الزلزلة
- سورة مريم

Alhamdulillah the contractions are coming along every 1-3 minutes, so the baby is moving.

Maghrib just passed, so Abdur-Rahman, Mostafa, and I broke our fast. We didn't have any dates, so before maghrib, I asked Abdur-Rahman to go to the apartment to pick up Madjool dates for us and small pitted dates for Wafa. A worthy food to break fast on! Now it's food time. Mama made turkey sandwiches and brought cheese sticks. Abdur-Rahman made me a PB&J sandwich. PEANUT BUTTER JELLY TIME!
